The City's trash removal contract is with Republic Services. Trash pick-up is weekly. To find out which day your trash is picked up, view the Trash Pick-Up Map (PDF).
On the following holidays, your trash will be delayed one day for pick-up:
- New Years
- Memorial Day
- July Fourth
- Labor Day
BULK ITEMS FOR PICKUP:
Any resident may place out for collection one large item per week.
Acceptable Large Item Collection includes the following:
Portable Basketball Court
Mattress (1) Queen or King
Glass Window-In Frame
Carpet (Cut & Bundled in 3 foot Pieces)
Mattresses (1) Single or Double
Unacceptable Large Item Collection includes the following:
Any materials resulting from home remodeling.
Automobile parts including motors, tires on rims, doors, fenders, car seats, batteries, bumpers
Central Air Conditioning or Heating Units
Fence Posts with Concrete Attached
Roofing Materials, Shingles
Marble/Simulated Marble Countertops
Floor Coverings(Except Carpet/padding Installed or Removed by Homeowner)
Hot Tubs/Spa Tubs
Chain Link Fencing
Duct or Sheet Metal Materials
Fire Damaged Items
Nails or Boards w/ Protruding Nails
Paint & Other Hazardous Waste
Tidy Totes are available upon request for a monthly fee of $2.10 each. If you would like to sign up for a Tidy Tote, adjust the number of Tidy Totes on your premises, or have your Tidy Tote removed, please fill out the Tidy Tote Maintenance Request Form. Please allow one week for processing your request, delivery, or removal.
Senior Citizens Rate
If you are 62 years of age or older, you can stop your refuse charge of $11.20 a month and purchase bags at the City complex. There are 10 bags in a package and the cost is $20. The amount of bags you use a month would determine if this program is for you. All refuse must be placed in the purchased bags. In addition you are also allowed to dispose of one large item a week. You must purchase a minimum of 2 packages of bags a year to remain on the program. Please call (231) 775-0181 x 123 for more information.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste is picked up weekly on your scheduled garbage day from the first week in April thru the last week in November or until the first snow. You must put all yard waste in a designated paper bag that you can purchase at your local grocery / hardware store. You can also use a designated waste can that is marked "yard waste" to put your grass clippings and limbs in. Yard Waste Guidelines: Bags may not exceed 30 lbs., Branches must be less than 4 inches in diameter and less than 4 feet in length, each bundle must be less than 20 inches in diameter, a max of 10 bags or bundles will be collected each week. **Regulations prohibit mixing yard waste and household waste together for collection.
