Free Water Availability Details The Cadillac Water Department is currently offering free water for those that live in the PFAS Study Area, regardless of whether these properties are in the City of Cadillac or a surrounding area. All residential properties on a private well within the study area were contacted by the State of Michigan regarding the study area and the need for their private well to be tested at the State’s cost. Properties in the study area that had PFAS detection in their results would have been notified by the State how to obtain a complimentary water filter.
This is an interim solution for properties within the study area that have exceeded the State’s PFAS threshold and have not yet obtained carbon filters or been connected to the City’s water system. The City is working on a plan to get the municipal water system to Marathon Drive, and is willing to collaborate with Haring Township on a plan to extend the system to Mary Street.
For all impacted properties, free water is available from the City. If you are interested, please do the following:
- Call (231) 775-0181 and select the Utilities Department.
- Indicate that you are in need of free water.
- Make arrangements to pick up and fill a 5-gallon jug of water at the Water Department Headquarters at 7241 E. 44 Road, Cadillac, MI.
- Jugs may be refilled as needed by making the same arrangements with Cadillac Water Department staff.

The Wexford Area of Interest Self-Sample Investigation is made up of several smaller areas across Wexford County. In order to ensure public health is protected, in the specific sampling areas identified in the attached maps, MPART will be offering to re-sample the original homes with exceedances, as well as the homes immediately adjacent.
