Community Development Department
The Community Development Department is charged with the oversight of the City master planning and zoning functions. The Community Development department works closely with several planning and zoning boards and commissions to achieve a balanced and effective approach to development throughout the City. These various boards and commissions work monthly to review development applications and drive the future of our community as planned in the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance. These boards and commissions include:
- Cadillac Historic Districts Commission
- Cadillac West Corridor Improvement Authority
- Cadillac-Clam Lake Joint Planning Commission
- Downtown Development Authority
- Planning Commission
- Zoning Board of Appeals
The Community Development Department oversees the writing and updating of several plans, and collaborates on area development plans. Including:
- City of Cadillac/Cadillac Area Public Schools Community Recreation Plan 2024-2029
- Enforcing and updating the city Zoning Ordinance
- Preparing and updating the City Master Plan (PDF)

- Zoning Application payments can be made online, by check, or cash. Online payments made with an e-check have no fee, cards have a 2% fee.
